Tonight I had the opportunity to attend a preview of the documentary 'Uncharitable' hosted by the The Funding Network Australia and Social Impact Hub and presented by Dan Pallotta. It certainly challenged my thinking in terms of the common attitude toward not-for-profits and how they allocate their spending. At the end of the day, what really should matter is how many more people have been positively impacted by the expenditure rather than the actual costs.Big corporations aren't questioned when their excessive spending leads to increased profit margins based on taking advantage of people's addictions, insecurities and lack of time but many charities are incorrectly accused of greed and corruption and are shamed by the media when they spend money on talented resources and strategies, AKA overheads, even when they result in significant growth and funding to benefit more people. It was heart breaking to see dedicated founders kicked out of their organisations due to what I just described above. This movie also made me reflect on a recent situation where I was approached to be involved in a charitable organisation; one that only exists due to significant wealth from business enterprises. It was only when I raised the 'fee' conversation, that I was told that they were seeking an honorary role and that they would make alternative arrangements. Ironic, given the number of other advisers that are paid in various other capacities. I had no regrets seeing that pass.I am proud of my achievements and value the contributions I make. It was very disappointing that it was pretty much taken for granted that a professional should provide honorary services in this situation. Uncharitable is the perfect response. If you are in the philanthropy, charity and not-for-profit space this is a must-see!! #charity #funding #notforprofit #privateancillaryfund #Uncharitable #foundations #thefundingnetwork

Change. People resist change, but it is inevitable, so we must accept it, evolve, and adapt. I am excited to see a documentary on this very subject in the context of non-profits, charity work, and humanitarian aid in select theaters now. Click the link to learn more about this important film and watch it. For those connected to HOBY, if I am not mistaken, one of the people involved in making this documentary is a #HOBY alum.

⭐ The Uncharitable Movie looks amazing Jim Hayhurst! The stark double standard between how nonprofits vs for-profits are viewed is a topic that drives me mad. 😡 🔎 It's okay for for-profit's to fail but it's not okay for a #charity to ever fail. We celebrate #entrepreneurs who miss the mark yet when it's a nonprofit, we persecute their #leadership. 🔎 This is what drives #charities to paint a rosy picture of all their work - they must sweep failures under the rug or they will lose their funding. Nonprofits cannot open up about what has worked and what hasn't because any failure means lost funding. 🔎 Of course, there are some bad actors in the nonprofit space, but no more and I'm quite certain much less than in the for-profit space. We must enable everyone and every entity to learn from #failure so they can do even better work. This double-standard drives charities to mediocrity rather than to the brilliance they are capable of. This must change if we are to successfully combat the worlds most challenging problems. 🌍

On 16 June, Ferrexpo's corporate theatre, Ferrotale, premiered the play "Behind Two Hares". About 80 employees spent six months preparing the play, and now the hall is full, emotions are off the scale, and the amount of charity funds raised to support the Armed Forcesand the unceasing applause at the end are the best proof that the project was a success. But that's not what I mean. All six months, and especially before the premiere, I was asked a lot of questions here in Ukraine and from abroad - why do we need this during the war? How necessary is this project right now?And now that I have a moment, I want to summarise all these whys.1.It can look strange, but the question of talents comes first. The war has shown that if you have those very people working for you, the sustainability of the business is amazing. And what is talent? No, it is not at all what is commonly understood by this word in society. It's not the ability to do incredible things, like write operas at six years old, or paint amazing pictures, or multiply multi-digit numbers in your mind without mistakes. The talent of an employee/celebrity for a company has three components:a.Great inner freedom to accept himself/herself as he/she is. His/her desires, fears, dreams, goals.b.Awareness, understanding of who I am, building cause and effect relationships, reflection of results.c.This is the power, energy of one's conscious freedom to realise, fulfilling desires, achieving goals and so on.All this gives the employee an opportunity to develop his/her professional competences, set ambitious goals and, by realising himself/herself, develop the company. Theatre is a great form of self-awareness and self-realisation. And it is a great example for the others, showing how much freedom there is within the company, that barriers and stereotypes are breaking down, that D&I is not a formality, but our rules of life.P.S. Continued in the comments :)#hr #development #leadershipdevelopment #culturalawareness #csr

It's nearly new budget time! We are having lots of chats with charities who would like to include video or animation content, but are unsure of cost. Our advice is to work on a proper brief and then speak to a few companies who can give you an estimated cost. Have a read of our blog on how to put together a film brief. https://lnkd.in/eafR_P49
