In eight interconnected short stories, Zara, Ziggy and Zoe - three little witches who live together in Cauldron Cottage, in the Magic Woods - keep house (using magic, of course!), attend Wizard Wink's school (which moves about the Woods, from day to day), and play with wizard boys Max and Mick, troll children Tig, Tag and Tog, and sulky fellow witch, Melissa. The preparations for their upcoming Halloween party, which provides a running theme throughout the collection, as responses to invitations (sent in the first story) come in at the close of each selection, culminate in the big evening itself, in which all the residents of the Magic Woods gather for a festive holiday celebration. The Three Little Witches Storybook seems to be one of a number of such themed story collections from British author/illustrator team Georgie Adams and Emily Bolam - see also: The Three Little Pirates and The Three Little Princesses - and is quite an enchanting little brew! The eight stories here all work together, as one big narrative, but can also be read in sequential installments, making it a wonderful book for beginning readers. The text is simple, but engaging, and Bolam's artwork is appealing, in a cute, cartoon-like way. Recommended to young readers who are looking for witchy reads with more sweetness than scare!

Author: Georgie Adams I picked this one up for the soon-to-be-5-niece but during a recent quiet moment in the holidays the 7yo and I decided to have a read. Years and years ago we bought Adams' audiobook The Real Fairy Storybook: Stories the Fairies Tell Themselves, as read by Emma Chambers, for the now teen. It was an instant hit. Engaging and funny, the girls would listen raptly, repeatedly. "The Three Little Witches Storybook" isn't as good. It doesn't have the same humour and novelty. But then I'm not Emma Chambers. *sigh* What "The Three Little Witches Storybook" is, is a next-step book. "The Real Fairy Storybook" really lends itself to listening. It's very much a sharing book. "The Three Little Witches Storybook" is for starting to read. It does read-aloud well, but it also has a simple vocabulary which encourages the new reader to participate and pick out words, to try herself. The colourful illustrations and simple stories with a nice linking story to encourage memory involves and engages the reader and listener. It works. But it isn't her best work. I spotted this one, and when opening it I saw the cute art style, and just knew I had to read this one. This won’t be a very long review, I just want to write down my thoughts about it. This one is about Zara, Ziggy and Zoe. 3 little witch girls who live in a magical place. This book tells us seven stories about these girls and their preparations for Halloween. It also shows us a peek in their daily life, and also a school day (which is a lot more interesting than one might think, as the school tends to just walk around whenever it wants, so you never know where it might end up the day you have to go to school). It was truly a delight to see these 3 girls live their lives, have fun, and learn a lot of new magics (and of course also fail at times with magic, causing a whirlwind to go through a room, and other things). The Halloween party and the preparations were fun, I also liked that they picked Melissa to be invited as well (even though they almost didn’t). I wonder if there are any more books about these 3 witches, because I would sure like to read more stories about these girls. I also would like to know more about them. Who are their parents? Why aren’t they living with them?
The art is also really fun, and I love the style. It fits the book perfectly. It is also really colourful and sweet.
Would I recommend this one? Oh yes, I would!

This book follows the story of three little witches, who want to throw a party for all the kids and friends. This book is very fun and childlike, due to the simple drawings. This book would be a great book to read during Halloween time. Personally, I find that it is difficult for me to find holiday books, especially about Halloween because they are so season specific. So, this would be fun to read with your kids, to get them in the Halloween and spooky spirit. I really enjoyed this book because of the characters, each of the witches are fun and quirky, resulting in a fun and bouncy plot. This book would be fun to read, on Halloween, when kids are excited and crazy. After all, when you read books, it helps get students and kids focused and thinking about one thing, so this would be a holiday fitting book for your kids.

So so sooooooo cute! I loved it! It's a bunch of little short stories about parties, witch/wizard school, and lots of other cute things! If your kids wants a scary Halloween book, this is DEFINITELY not for them. But if they want to enjoy wonderful tales that just make you happy, then this is a book I would really recommend.

Ihan mahtava, hauska ja ihana tarina kolmesta pienestä noitatytöstä ja heidän juhlajärjestelyistään liikkuvine kouluineen, hypermarketteineen ja katoilevine loitsukirjoineen! Ehdottomasti vinkkaukseen.
